Game of inches! Rickie Fowler came disgustingly close to a hole-in-one on a par-four

This was as good as it got for Rickie, unfortunately.

A LOT HAS already been said about the crazy greens at the US Open, but they nearly led to a moment of magic on an otherwise bleak day for Rickie Fowler.

Fowler is currently second-last after stinking out Chambers Bay with an opening round off 11-over-par 81 on Thursday.

Standing on the 12th tee — a par-four — Fowler landed his ball on the middle of the green and watched as it scooted yards by the hole.

Had it stopped, it would have left him with a putt of 40 feet or so but it caught the slope and trickled back towards the hole.

Getting closer.

A little closer.

So close.

Fowler ended up tapping in for an eagle two which isn’t too shabby, but on a day when nothing else seemed to go his way, this would have been a nice break.
