MVG to face Peter Wright in World Darts Championship final

The pair booked their places in the championship decider tonight.

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN will face Peter Wright in the final of the PDC Darts World Championship on New Year’s Day.

The showdown will be a repeat of the 2014 championship decider which MVG won.

Tonight at the Alexandra Palace, he saw off Nathan Aspinall 6-3 in a contest that never caught fire. Wednesday’s final will be the Dutch star’s fifth.

Earlier, ‘Snakebite’ Peter Wright defeated Gerwyn Price 6-3. The Welshman was fancied to make the championship decider but never really got going while Wright averaged 98.39, hitting 16 maximums.

There was seemingly some tension between the players and no handshake at the end.

Wasn’t a good game, both players missed a lot of their doubles, the game felt like it dragged on,, still delighted with the result, Price is what he is, nasty little streak in him,, didn’t even shake hands at the end when wright won, ah well, don’t let the door hit you on the way out….

@devils avacado: in fairness i didn’t see wright offering his hand either. If they dont like each other then so be it.

@Brian Dunne: true, I didn’t see him do it either, in his post match interview he said Price had wound him up and said something nasty to him, then a little shoulder check when he won a set and they were walking off,, they don’t have to love one another (that would be boring) but a little professional curtesy for reaching the world final, maybe not to much to ask for??

@devils avacado: Wright certainly should never have offered his hand. Price always causes trouble and Wright did the right thing not offering a handshake.

Peter Wright is the Jimmy White of darts. Would like to see him get over the line and win it

Delighted to see Price beaten, can’t stand the pompous, arrogant d**khead. However poor old Snakebites record in finals is horrific, nearly as bad as the Mayo footballers and Galway hurlers combined.

I’d say she’ll have some thoughts on the RTE Shane Lowry documentary
