Wilder KOd Ortiz in the 10th round when the pair met in 2018. Frank Franklin II

Deontay Wilder's next fight will be... a rematch against Luis Ortiz

“The big fight will happen, I promise you that,” Wilder assures fans.

WBC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION Deontay Wilder has confirmed he will face Luis Ortiz in a rematch rather than set up a blockbuster showdown with Anthony Joshua.

Wilder (41-0-1) has called for patience as fans demand a mouthwatering bout against WBA, IBF and WBO holder Joshua after needing just 137 seconds to knock out Dominic Breazeale earlier this month.

In the meantime, ferocious American Wilder is set for another Ortiz clash following the pair’s 2018 encounter, with the date and location yet to be announced.

Wilder beat Cuban boxer Ortiz (31-1) via a 10th-round knockout at Barclays Center in New York last year.

“To all my fans, I want to announce that Luis Ortiz and I have signed for a rematch, with the date and site to be announced shortly,” Wilder tweeted on Tuesday.

“All my controversial fights Must get dealt with ASAP #BombZquad.”

Wilder promised a highly anticipated fight with Joshua would happen after producing a devastating knockout to retain his WBC belt against Breazeale.

“The great thing about this is all these fights are in discussion, no doors are closed, all teams, all parties that are involved are talking and that’s the great thing about it,” Wilder told Showtime.

“We know when the big fights happen everything is going to be silenced. There’s too many people involved, too many opinions involved right now.

“It’s going to take my team and his team, maybe me and him as well, to sit down and hammer this and squash everything and get this fight done for the fans.”

Wilder added: “This fight will happen. The big fight will happen, I promise you that, with patience, come time, and I just want you guys to have patience and give us a little time to make this thing happen so we all benefit from it, not only just you fans.

“We risk our lives in here so we want to make sure we get the best and the most money that’s possible.

“We’re risking our lives. The head is not meant to be hit in the first place so let us get our time to iron out all the differences and you guys will know when that happens.”

Getting boring now to be honest, Give Dillian Whyte a shot at any of them, seems like AJ, Wilder are avoiding each other.

@Leon Mc Gilton: seems like Wilder is doing the avoiding….not sure why, I think he’s a superior boxer to AJ and will not only win but KO AJ also

@Micheal Ralph: are you serious a superior boxer?. He has a wild swing and if he connects it’s lights out. AJ would out box him all day long but if he gets caught it’s lights out. Fury is by far the best of them all by a long shot. Agree it’s getting boring now. There is too many belts now that’s the main issue.

@Rocky Jones: on the ball rockey, none of them will touch AJ, wilder is padding his record and fury is fighting middle aged bouncers.

@Bungee Aky: Fury fought Klitchko away from home as a huge underdog when WK was undefeated for over 10 years. He also fought Wilder in the US in his third fight back after a layoff where he’d ballooned up to 400lbs.

Please name one fight either Wilder or AJ have taken that was as risky as either of the above? I’ll wait…

@Rocky Jones: He may not be as classically technical as AJ but he has superior hand speed and power, AJ doesn’t posses any weapons as sharp as Wilder’s one-two, so the jury is out for me as to weather he could hang with Wilder and out box him for 12 rounds like Fury did, he’s not as evasive as Fury defensively and I can see him getting hit.

Initially it seemed like it was Eddie Hearn who was the stumbling block in negotiations but since Wilder-Fury all three of them seem to be avoiding one another.

@Edmund Spencer: Sure AJ fought Klitschko and stopped him in a fight that will go down as an all time classic. The Fury / Klitschko fight on the other hand was one of the worst heavyweight title fights in years – and theres been a few. You could count on one hand the number of clean punches thrown. Most of them Furys in fairness. Despite outboxing Wilder he only got a draw – somehow getting off the canvas in the 12th. Furys two crowing moments are good – but not great. Bottom line is that all 3 heavyweights should be slugging it out regularly just the legends at heavyweight in the 70s and welterweight/ middleweight in the 80s.

@Bungee Aky: what is aj doing so ? Offering 35% purse to wilder isn’t looking for a fight it’s low balling knowing he won’t take it . Ortiz better than whoever aj will fight next .

@Robert O Farrell: What’s that got to do with anything? Klistchko was coming off a loss and an 18th month layoff in the AJ fight and it was in London…and he still very nearly stopped AJ in that fight.

Just because it was a more entertaining fight doesn’t make the performance more impressive in context.

@Robert O Farrell: Fury beat the best boxer in the world at the time, AJ has never fought the best boxer.
And don’t kid yourself, Fury beat Wilder too only for corrupt officials.
AJ is just milking his career for all it’s worth because he realises that Fury is the best boxer of this generation and would beat him and he doesn’t want to risk being a part of Wilders highlight reel.
Wilder is the worst of the 3, he’s an average to below average boxer but has power that gives him a more than decent chance against any boxer there ever has been or ever will be.
I believe if all 3 fought 3 times, Fury would win every fight (he might lose 1/3 against Wilder just because of Wilder’s freakish power).

@John Black: wilder put fury on his arse, a decent boxer would have finished the job. The fact that Fury is even a contender say more about the state of the fighters than anything, but AJ has more than the rest of them, fitness, power, skill, speed. Fury will get caught (again) for fitness, wilder doesn’t have the skill.

@Bungee Aky: And what about the fact that Klitschko put AJ on his arse and couldn’t land a glove on Fury? How does that fit into your misguided narrative?

@Micheal Ralph: a superior boxer ?????? what you on about ! hes a boxing novice in comparison even dilian whyte is a better boxer in my opinion! he’s probably the most dangerous heavyweight in terms of one shot knock out power which is actually quite insane the power he has,he didnt win one round against ortiz or fury till he dropped them and ortiz os nearly 60! a superior boxer is the likes of fury saunders mayweather lomachemko etc !boxing iq winning rounds good style. joshua wins most rounds with a good jab slightly robotic but major power, i think joshua is to high a caliber opponent for wilder imo his chin aint the toughest and he doesnt have head movement like fury ,but there heavyweights anything can happen
