The Dutch cup tie between Ajax Amsterdam and AZ Alkmaar was abandoned this evening in bizarre circumstances.

THEY SAY THAT you have to be crazy to be a goalkeeper — AZ Alkmaar stopper Esteban certainly seems to fit that description.
This evening’s Dutch Cup last 16 tie between Alkmaar and Ajax Amsterdam was abandoned after the Costa Rican keeper lashed back to defend himself against an attack by a pitch invader.
Video footage from the incident shows Esteban dodging the initial attack and kicking out at his assailant before he was sent off for violent conduct by the referee.

The match was immediately abandoned as Alkmaar coach Gert Jan Verbeek pulled his team off the pitch in protest at Esteban’s dismissal.
