WATERFORD HAVE SIGNED Algerian striker Wassim Aouachria.
Aouachria, 22, came through the Olympic Marseille youth structure before joining Charlton Athletic U23s in 2019, scoring five goals in his first nine starts.
Aouachria has since spent time out on loan, but now joins an in-form Waterford side ahead of the second half of the SSE Airtricity League First Division season, looking to make an impact.
โIโm really, really pleased and excited to sign,โ Aouachria said.
โThe first few days with the team have been really good integrating with the boys and they have been brilliant. I know a couple of the players, Junior [Quitirna] and Yassine [En-Neyah], and both have helped me a lot since Iโve been here.
โItโs a very talented group of players who want to work hard and improve and weโll be really pushing to go up at the end of the season. Iโm delighted to join and hopefully add something to the team.
โIโm really excited to be here to play games, score goals, contribute assists and really enjoy my football.โ

Having played underage international football for Algeria, Aouachria spent time at Aldershot, Braintree, and Hampton & Richmond Borough in the National League in England.
Heโll now wear the Bluesโ number nine jersey.
โWassim is a player whoโs been on the clubโs radar since pre-season and we are delighted to finally get this deal over the line,โ Waterford Director of Football Tobias Phoenix said.
โHe brings a real energy and hunger to the squad, as well as his quality. He came here to be successful and I canโt wait to see him on the pitch,โ head coach Danny Searle added.
โฆsomeone please put up a clip of Ryan Bairds tackle on Michael Lowryโฆ..a thing of beautyโฆ. and you have to have played the game to appreciate how truly exceptional it was.
@Michael Murray: Couldnโt agree more!
I saw Joshโs face in the ruck where he got hurt. Didnโt think it looked good from his reaction. A big loss to any team, except maybe Leinster.. Penny comes in and Connors comes onto the bench. Ridiculous strength in depth.
@John Thomas: Connors wonโt be on the bench with Doris back.
@John Thomas: Yehโฆ thought the same, also why did he play on?! We were well ahead and had Penny on the bench, VDF absolutely crucial for CC and URC knockout games
As long as Joy Neville isnโt TMO again it should be a good spectacle.
Poor performance, RB exposed again soon as forward dominance is gone and he has no space he is nullified. Furlong also has never been the same player since the back injury few seasons ago, just toddles into contact no gain line anymore. Baird might be a difference and if Jenkins can have a few big games but still fear Toulouse and La Rochelle.
@Liam Kelly: โฆ
Not being pedantic but 2 RBs in squadโฆspecifics will help those for whom the squad players are not household names.
@Liam Kelly: RB = Rob Balacoune?!?
@Liam Kelly: Yeap, that game did no favours at all for Balacouneโs World Cup selection.
@Dave Murray: I think that Balacoune had already blown his chance on the international stage- he just doesnโt seem to have the natural game awareness necessary for Irelandโs system. I am guessing that โgame awarenessโ is a major qualification for this a Ireland team โ skill set and strength etc being a given โ it is clearly a common attribute of the rising stars Keenan, Doris, Hansen, Sheehan and Gibson-Park.
