LOUIS VAN GAAL acknowledged that Manchester United were not the better team in their goalless draw with Crystal Palace.
United drew 0-0 with local rivals Manchester City last weekend, before a goalless 120 minutes preceded their League Cup penalty-shootout elimination at the hands of Middlesbrough in midweek.
After failing to find the net against Palace, the Dutchman bemoaned his side’s inability to control the match and was left frustrated as they failed to create enough goal-scoring chances, with Wayne Rooney’s first-half free-kick their only effort on target.
“When you are not creating so many chances you cannot complain,” he said.
“Against Middlesbrough I thought we had chances to finish, so that is of more concern. But today we had no chances to win it.
“Today I think it was obvious that Crystal Palace started very well in this game, they won every second, third ball and we didn’t touch it.
“Then after 15 minutes we came into the match, had positional shape and made chances, like Ander Herrera in the last minute of the first half.
“In the second half Crystal Palace had more strength. When you play like Crystal Palace did with the long ball the pressure is always on our goal.
“Still, I think we could have scored in the second half but we were not the better team today and that’s a concern.
“I cannot train anymore because we have to recover, recover, recover. We have a game every three days so I have to speak more.
“The most important thing is to score in the next game.”
There’s no pace on the counter, not enough creativity to unlock a stubborn defence and rooney needs to go to the mls. On the plus side the defence is as solid as it has been in a good while and discipline seems to be good.
And again “did you see that ludicrous display last night? The problem with United is they’re always trying to walk it in”. Seriously they’re fecking awful. Sucking the life out of Martial playing him on the wing. While Rooney sucks the life out of the whole team. I hate to say it but he seems past it.
I really think there is complete over hype about this. Take out Rooney and insert world class 9 and you have a great side there!
I actually don’t disagree with you but there lays the problem. We just didn’t replace our strikers and lack up front. To be fair Memphis just hasn’t lived up to his hype. Could end up like Nani, loads of talent but too inconsistent.
Yeah I don’t even support united it was more of an observation that 4 points off the top with that team is an achievement.
Know something??
I’m getting sick and tired of this Man Td soap!
Jamie Vardy has scored just 4 goals less than the entire Utd team so far.
It’s not happening for LVG. As a united fan I would be hoping they can make top 3 and maybe get a decent run in Europe. And then they can start lining up the replacement – Pep ( if he wants out at Munich ) or Anchellotti.
Pep will go to Chelsea or Man City… Ancelotti will go back to Italy. Moyes may be available.
Pep is waiting for Wenger to retire. (2017) can’t see pep at Chelsea, Manuel will he at city for another bit.
Rodgers to Arsenal
I understand that liverpool & Utd are the two most supported premiership clubs in Ireland but the obsession from the 42 with all the articles involving these two clubs is pretty pathetic
More articles on the most popular teams on the 42 = more views which = more revenue generated through advertising = more money for the owners of the 42,did I break it down simply enough for you?
Van gaal out!!!
Albeit I’m an Aston Villa fan, but for me Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund would be the perfect solution to United’s problems in the goals department as he as already bagged 17 goals in all competitions this season in just 14 appearances and only seems to be getting better with every game he plays. He’s still only reaching his peak at 26 years old and I’m sure he would see a club like United as a big step up considering Dortmund are only playing Europa League football at the moment and are playing second fiddle to Munich for some time now.
Pep won’t go to Chelsea, abramovic is too much of a c***
The usual rubbish biased one sided reporting I’ve come to expect from the journal and its associates.
