Roscommon 0-14
Tyrone 0-12
ROSCOMMON HAVE STUNNED Tyrone to book their place in next weekend’s All-Ireland quarter-finals and dump the Ulster side out of the championship.
Leading by six points at half-time in Omagh, Roscommon held off a second-half fightback from the hosts to hold on for a two-point win and their first-ever championship victory over Tyrone.
Diarmuid Murtagh and Daire Cregg scored a combined eight points from play, with Cregg swinging over a crucial point late in the game when Tyrone were applying severe pressure. Donie Smith, who was superb throughout, also posted four points in what is one of the biggest results for the county.
Tyrone’s second-half rally was built on scores by Darragh Canavan and a brace of Darren McCurry frees while substitute Eoin McElholm also found the target after coming on at half-time. Conn Kilpatrick, who had a red card suspension from the Cork game overturned, was also among the changes at the break.
Defender Michael McKernan broke forward to kick a point which left just one between the teams with seven minutes to go. But Tyrone failed to produce an equaliser as Roscommon grabbed the insurance scores through Cregg and Smith to ensure the visitors were celebrating at full-time.
Davy Burke’s side will face Donegal, Kerry or Armagh in Croke Park next weekend.

They need to teach proper tackling technique in the NFL… too many players feel invincible with the pads and just fling themselves into eachother like missiles
Apparently the Seahawks work with an ex rugby union coach and this is why their tackling is so good and leads to less injuries, they tackle with their arms and shoulders rather than their heads like most teams.
