DROGHEDA UNITED DEFENCE duo Conor Kane and Kevin Farragher, and midfielder Sean Brennan have all re-signed for the Louth club.
The news of the trioโs commitment for the 2018 campaign comes as the first move made by new manager Tim Clancy.
The 33-year-old defender was named as Pete Mahonโs successor at the helm earlier this month as they prepare for their return to the SSE Airtricity League First Division following their relegation from the top flight.
And Clancy has began to build his squad for the coming season, with the announcement made earlier today.
Farragher was key in 2016, in particular in the play-off against Wexford Youths. His headed effort helped rocket his side into the Premier Division.
His 2017 campaign following the promotion wasnโt quite as memorable however, hampered by injury as he made just 10 appearances across all competitions.
Teenage defender Conor Kane signed for the Drogs last year and will be hoping to build on his promising showing going forward.
He tweeted earlier: โDelighted to sign back. Canโt wait to get going for pre-season.โ
Sean Brennan is the third player to commit his immediate future to Drogheda United.
Heโs also had spells at Monaghan United, Shelbourne and Athlone Town, but moved back to United in 2015. He has been a mainstay since.
The club announced the re-signings on Twitter earlier, adding:
โThe three were first-team regulars last season and are the first signings under new Drogs boss Tim Clancy.โ
In Clancyโs first interview with the clubโs official website, he stressed that heโs planning on building long-term structures rather than diving in at the deep end.
โFrom the meetings I had with the club, I know that they arenโt looking for a quick fix,โ he said.
โWe want to build something thatโs sustainable here. I just canโt wait to get going.โ
โIโve spoken to a number of players already and there is definitely interest there. I expect there will be a number of players from last yearโs squad staying on along with some of the lads who have excelled at U19 level.
โIf we can bring a few new faces in to join the group, thatโll leave us in good stead for the new campaign.โ
Drogheda United are delighted to announce that Sean Brennan, Kevin Farragher and Conor Kane have re-signed for next season.
