Rolling back the years! Blistering start gives returning Woods share of the lead

Woods is making up for lost time early in his second round in the Bahamas, raising hopes of a sensational win on his return.

TIGER WOODS ROLLED back the years in his comeback event to move into a share of the lead early in his second round at the Hero World Challenge.

The 14-time major winner carded an encouraging three-under 69 in his first competitive round for 10 months at the Albany Golf Course in New Providence on Thursday.

Woods, who underwent a fourth back operation in April, made a storming start in the Bahamas on Friday, birdieing three of the first four holes to join Tommy Fleetwood at the top of the leaderboard on six under.

The legendary American was three shots adrift of Fleetwood, not due to tee off for his second round until 12.38pm local time, after the first round but was soon alongside the Englishman.

Woods started with a birdie after an excellent approach shot and picked up another stroke at the third, before a brilliant second shot at the fourth gave him a short putt for a share of the lead.

He then missed a 10-foot birdie attempt at the fifth that would have put him clear at the summit.

That Tommy Fleetwood is having some year, he seems to be there or thereabouts in every tournament he plays in.
