This is how Arsenal and Chelsea could end up playing-off for a Champions League spot

Get those calculators out. We really want to see those fingers.

JUST WHEN YOU thought this was the most anti-climactic denouement to a Premier League season ever, this occurs to someone.

Premier League chiefs are โ€” youโ€™d expect โ€” hoping the possibility of an unlikely Champions League play-off game doesnโ€™t materialise on Sunday.

That would happen if London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea finish the season level on points, goals difference and goals scored.

As you can see from Sky Sportsโ€™ graphic, right, that would happen if the Gunners win their final game in Newcastle 2-1 and Chelsea are held to a scoreless draw at home to Everton.

Hereโ€™s the Premier League rule:  โ€If at the end of the seasonโ€ฆ the question of qualification for other competitions cannot be determined because two or more clubs are equal on points, goal difference and goals scored, the clubs concerned shall play off one or more deciding league matches on neutral grounds, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the board.โ€

If the semiโ€™s are anything to go by, this should make it a cracking final.

Those were two worthy winners up there, though both sides had aging players and disappeared off the radar after those successes. Great to see them back again.

    @ Denis

The Germans shouldnโ€™t get too carried away.

Meaning: Donโ€™t start boasting, try to be modest. And they are fairly modest about it all.

You took this in the wrong way and then went on from there.

The Germans shouldnโ€™t get too carried away.
Weโ€™ve already had an all-Spanish, Italian and English final.
Real Madrid vs. Valenica, AC Milan vs. Juventus, Man Utd vs. Chelsea.
Barcelona, Man Utd and the other big boys will be back next yearโ€ฆ..

Whoโ€™s getting carried away? All they said was its great to have an all German final!

They didnโ€™t declare they are the worlds greatest league like so many players and commentators in England do, nor did they mention anything about next yearโ€ฆ

Thereโ€™s always one trying to rain on the parade, just enjoy the spectacle of two very attacking teams trying to dismantle each other!
