IT WAS AN interesting day of action as Monaghan and Mayo claimed provincial football honours in Ulster and Connacht respectively and The Sunday Game panel had little hesitation when it came to handing out the individual awards.
It was a 16th crown for the Monaghan side and their one-point win saw Conor McManus score six of their eleven scores โ three of them from frees.
He made the three-man shortlist, alongside team-mate Karl OโConnell and Donegalโs Frank McGlynn but ultimately, McManus got the panelโs vote with Kevin McStay saying he had an โincredibleโ game, especially considering the extra responsibility of wearing the captainโs armband.
Meanwhile, Mayo trounced Sligo and unsurprisingly all three nominees for the Man of the Match award were from the winning side โ Tom Parsons, Diarmuid OโConnor and Aidan OโShea were shortlisted.
The latter, who managed 3-4 in what was a superb display, ultimately got the nod.

Benny Coulter must be ready to be put out for pasture by now.. Surely someone else in Down can step up at this point!
