The Departures Lounge: Rs linked with Sneijder, Cahill and Robbie Keane

A raft of names were thrown at Harry Redknapp as he plans to ‘wheel and deal’ the basement club out of trouble.

IT’S NO SECRET that Harry Redknapp will be one of the busiest men of this transfer window.

The QPR manager, whose side sit five points from safety at the bottom of the Premier League table, was quizzed by journalists about potential targets and a number of interesting names popped up.

Among them were Wesley Sneijder, Mohamed Diame, Jake Livermore, Tim Cahill and… Robbie Keane. Speaking to Sky Sports ’Arry had this to say about the MLS pair, who would be available on short-term loan deals:

“To bring someone in like Robbie or Tim Cahill – you’re taking them for about six weeks then you lose them at a time when you’ve got 10, 12 games to try to stay up. It’s difficult.”

They’d improve any team, those two – they’re fantastic professionals and great players. But I’m not close to doing anything with them.”

Inter Milan playmaker Sneijder is out of favour at the Nerazzurri and might be keen on a move to England but, as Redknapp suggests, there’s little  hope of him arriving at Loftus Road.

“I can’t see that one coming off. I was offered him by an agent, but I’ll take it with a pinch of salt.”

Not to worry. We’ll move on.

Going?

With doubts hanging over the fitness of Richard Dunne, Aston Villa are said to be weighing up a move for Joleon Lescott. The Manchester City centre-half, who supported Villa as a child, isn’t first choice at the Premier League champions right now but is likely to cost a pretty penny.

Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby is keen on a switch to England and Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal have all been monitoring the situation. The 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer and while Liverpool have reportedly made an offer, he may prefer a move to London.

A footballer’s father isn’t always the most reliable source of information, so we’ll let you decide whether to take news from Fabricio Colloccini’s dad that the defender wants to move to home seriously or not.

Osvaldo Colloccini is quoted as saying that his son would love a return to his old club San Lorenzo, but added that it’s a “complicated” move.

Gone!

It certainly won’t be their last signing this month but QPR have brought in Tal Ben Haim until the end of the season. We’re not quite sure if the former Manchester City, Chelsea and Bolton man will add much pace to the pairing of Clint Hill and Ryan Nelsen but, at 30, he at least brings down the average age of their centre-halves.

And this just in, West Ham have taken Arsenal misfit Marouane Chamakh on loan for six months.
