THE CAMOGIE TEAM of the Year was named by The Sunday Game panel last night following Cork’s All-Ireland triumph over Kilkenny.
The panel of Ann Marie Hayes, Cyril Farrell and Mags D’Arcy selected seven players from champions Cork, five from beaten finalists Kilkenny, two from Galway and one from Dublin.
Cork’s Gemma O’Connor was a notable absentee after putting in a fine display yesterday and firing over the equalising point in stoppage time.
The panel also selected Rebel defender Rena Buckley as Player of the Year. Buckley made GAA history by picking up her 18th All-Ireland medal, while she also became the first woman to captain her own county to All-Ireland titles in both camogie and football.
Here are the selections in full:

Good player was Finnan. Nothing spectacular but a solid 7 out of 10 in every game for club or country.
He had plenty of 8/9′s along the way.
Incredibly modest and selfless pro when on the pitch. Always gave everything.
And to think we replaced him with Glen Johnson….
I’m tellin ya he’s in donkey fordes right now doling out the chips
According to the comments of the previous article, he is coaching in Delaware http://the42.ie/2114176
