THE NEW YORK STOCK Exchange has suspended all trading in all stocks, and is investigating an apparent technical glitch.
Trading halted at 4.32pm (Irish Time) and the Stock Exchange said in a notice on its website that “additional information will follow as soon as possible”.
An NYSE statement cited “technical issues”.
“It’s under control,” Mark Otto of market maker J. Streicher & Co in New York said on the NYSE floor, according to Reuters.
“We’re just waiting for word. There’s no sign of panic at all”.

@northern craic – that company (formally wombat) – are now a shade of the operation they used be. Very few there now. Was bought over by a Chinese operation 2 years ago

same day as united airlines ground all flights due to technical problems… sounds like hackers are busy at it.
How do you hack a plane? It’s pretty much a closed system. It’s not like they put up a website with controls for each plane on it for anybody who can find it.

it is the passenger information system/ network that was down…but a lot of modern planes have data connections with the ground.
@neal apparently someones already attempted it. While I’m skeptical myself about the report seemingly a security consultant claims to have hacked a plane already last April

A temporary malfunction in our permanently dysfunctional system.
Maybe some stock investor could explain to a simple man like myself how is it possible for NYSE to halt/stop all trading on the DJI and the numbers to keep magically climbing back up while there is no active trading occurring? “technical glitch” and by the way pigs can fly!!!!!!!
…after last week’s palaver, they’ve changed the Whiffy code and promptly forgotten what it was….will someone call Fidelma and ask her….
