VIDEO: Steven Gerrard talks about how a psychiatrist transformed his career

The comments come on the back of news that Steve Peters has joined the England set-up.

LIVERPOOL AND ENGLAND star Steven Gerrard has spoken about how a psychiatrist helped transform his career.

Gerrard said that Steve Peters has โ€œhelped me with mental preparation going into gamesโ€ and enabled the midfielder to โ€œunderstand what goes on in my headโ€.

The comments come on the back of news that Peters has joined the England set-up, having previously worked with Gerrard and others at Liverpool.

โ€œIt is not just any psychologist,โ€ Hodgson told a press conference on Tuesday. โ€œIt is Dr Steve Peters, who is a very famous man in that area.

โ€œHe has a great CV of working in different sports and has been doing some work with Liverpool and (Liverpool manager) Brendan Rodgers, so Steve [Gerrard] knows him well.
