AHEAD OF TOMORROW nightโs eagerly-anticipated meeting with title rivals Cork City, Dundalk have been boosted by the news that manager Stephen Kenny has put pen to paper on a new contract.
The club announced this afternoon that Kenny has signed a one-year extension, which will keep him at Oriel Park until the end of the 2016 season.
Kenny joined Dundalk in November 2012 and guided them to their first Premier Division title since 1995 last season. The Lilywhites, who are currently top of the table with nine games of their title defence played, also won the EA Sports Cup in 2014.
โIt has been a tremendous journey the club have embarked on in the last few years and it has been great to be part of,โ said Kenny. โWe were bottom of the league and had a completely new group to go from where we were to league champions and to win trophies. It has been great for all involved.
โThe big challenge now is to keep that going. It has been 20 years since Dundalk were consistently in the top four, 20 years since Dermot Keely won the league here and it has been that long since Dundalk were an established club. Thatโs the challenge we face now. We want to mount a defence of our title and we look forward to Europe as well.โ
Iโm Glad Juan Cuadrado made a career for himself in football after kris kross broke up.
Hardly a surprise, Sky Sports News is that underwhelming the other 364 days as well
With Chelsea and City probably going to stretch ahead even more you would and the race for top 4 tightening you would think a few teams could have strengthened. I would say it will be a busy summer though .
Who actually watches this shit?!
