Tottenham trio condemned by club for breaking coronavirus rules

Erik Lamela, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso were pictured at a gathering with West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini over the festive period.

TOTTENHAM HAVE CONDEMNED Erik Lamela, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso for breaking coronavirus rules.

The trio were pictured at a large party over the festive period, with West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini also in attendance, breaching strict tier four guidelines.

The photo was circulated on social media and Spurs have reacted angrily, with all three players facing disciplinary action.

Lamela was not named in the squad for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off against Leeds, with Reguilon on the bench, while Lo Celso is out injured.

The club said in a statement: “We are extremely disappointed and strongly condemn this image showing some of our players with family and friends together at Christmas, particularly as we know the sacrifices everybody around the country made to stay safe over the festive period.

“The rules are clear, there are no exceptions, and we regularly remind all our players and staff about the latest protocols and their responsibilities to adhere and set an example.

“The matter will be dealt with internally.”

This is not the first time Spurs’ players have broken lockdown rules as there were several incidents during the first lockdown in the spring.

Jose Mourinho was seen holding a personal training session with Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Davinson Sanchez were seen out running together, while Serge Aurier was a repeat offender, having a haircut and a personal training session with Moussa Sissoko.

Even as a spurs fan I hope the club punish them harshly to send out a message.. these players are being paid obscene amounts of money and in return they should expect to follow club policies. A months wages each to a charity dealing with covid issues would soften their cough!

@Niall Brady: Glad to see someone else that isn’t a fan of Lo Celso, I think he’s the biggest dirtbag in the Premier League

Cannot see Spurs putting up with Lamela much longer. Talented lad on his day which is about two games a year

@Noel Doherty: Absolutely agree. A skinny whippet with a child’s temper. Guaranteed yellow card, has underperformed for about 8 years at the club. About time they traded him in

@Paul Jennings: Klopp refused to say whether Salah, one of several Liverpool players to test positive for Covid-19 this season, had the club’s permission to attend the wedding. He added: “If we knew or not, that is private.
That’s from many articles at the time , don’t be silly by defending Salah .
There’s no excuse regarding breaking restrictions including Spurs player .
Like Hodgson today saying his players didn’t put anyone at risk because they tested negative after breaking restrictions. At least Jose is straight up not happy .
