SHANE DUFFY HAS been named Senior International Player of the Year at tonightโs FAI Awards.
The Brighton defender put in some strong defensive displays in 2017, starring in the 1-0 win over Wales and the 0-0 first-leg clash with Denmark.
He was also part of a defence that conceded just six goals in 10 group stage games.
The 26-year-old, who could not make the ceremony owing to adverse weather conditions, was chosen ahead of fellow nominees Darren Randolph and James McClean.
Elsewhere, Cyrus Christie was chosen as Young Player of the Year ahead of Duffy and Callum OโDowda, while McCleanโs winner against Wales was named as Goal of the Year.

Great footage. A hint of offside!! Big Sam had a โmare by the looks of things. Turners cross has come on alot โ the shed was literally.. a shed
Im fairness to Sam he was down a few players and had to play himself. He was late 30s and the jerseys barely fit him. We played the most attractive football that season with a youth team and some old pros winning the first division easily. I was sad to see him go. But the weekly bucket collection door to door that he himself had to partake in had an effect on him. Fondly remembered.in limerick
Decent crowd
Great to see the way the cross was back in the day. City had a handy team back then.
That would be Cormac Kanchelskis to give him his correct title.
