THE AMERICAN DREAM is over for Sean St Ledger.
The former Ireland centre half has been ‘waived’ by Orlando City, with the MLS confirming that his release was due to a “serious breach of club policy”.
St Ledger has played 15 times for the Florida club, who are coached by Adrian Heath and led by one-time world player of the year, Kaka.
The former Preston defender — who has 37 Ireland caps, but has not featured since Martin O’Neill took over as manager — was thought to be impressing since he moved to the MLS.
“The move opens up an international spot on Orlando City’s roster. St. Ledger, who signed with the team on March 5, was making a salary of $124,992. It is not immediately clear how the move impacts Orlando City’s salary cap,” Paul Tenorio writes in the Orlando Sentinel.
Orlando are currently in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot.

What is the issue with him? no player can have as may clubs let him go as he has . surely there is more than bad luck at play here

N O hUallaigh, most of these comments were made way before the “breach in club policy” was reported, the article was just updated so the comments from earlier remain.
He went on trial for D.C United while still under contract at Orlando hence why he was waived
Shame. I always liked him. Not the most gifted and was prone to a mistake but gave everything in the green jersey and can’t ask for more than that. There’s worse centre backs out picking up good wages. Hope he gets picked up soon

If we are talking per week,LOI is normally bout 750-1000 a week depending on the player(not talkin bout Richie towell)

Orlando City had to free up an international player spot (per MLS rules). OC has a lot of injuries right now….and doing a lot of roster moves. St Ledger got caught in the numbers game more than anything else

Not surprised, he was terrible last week against New York City. He is League of Ireland standard at best.
He’s no pace…..agree has some good moments….but makes costly errors….lovely guy….that’s professional soccer. He’s done very well for himself.
@Richard he was done for the villa goal but played left of a back three then right of a back four when chasing it. was good all season when they were keeping clean sheets and kept collin out of the team. harsh in my opinion.

I watched a few of Orlando’s games. He was playing quite well !! Thought he might get back into the irish squad again.
