THE AMERICAN DREAM is over for Sean St Ledger.
The former Ireland centre half has been โwaivedโ by Orlando City, with the MLS confirming that his release was due to a โserious breach of club policyโ.
St Ledger has played 15 times for the Florida club, who are coached by Adrian Heath and led by one-time world player of the year, Kaka.
The former Preston defender โ who has 37 Ireland caps, but has not featured since Martin OโNeill took over as manager โ was thought to be impressing since he moved to the MLS.
โThe move opens up an international spot on Orlando Cityโs roster. St. Ledger, who signed with the team on March 5, was making a salary of $124,992. It is not immediately clear how the move impacts Orlando Cityโs salary cap,โ Paul Tenorio writes in the Orlando Sentinel.
Orlando are currently in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot.

What is the issue with him? no player can have as may clubs let him go as he has . surely there is more than bad luck at play here
How come no-one is asking what the serious breach in club policy was??
N O hUallaigh, most of these comments were made way before the โbreach in club policyโ was reported, the article was just updated so the comments from earlier remain.
He went on trial for D.C United while still under contract at Orlando hence why he was waived
Shame. I always liked him. Not the most gifted and was prone to a mistake but gave everything in the green jersey and canโt ask for more than that. Thereโs worse centre backs out picking up good wages. Hope he gets picked up soon
Heโll always have that picture with Taylor Swift to console him.
A salary of โฌ110k? Is that right? He could get that playing LOI or English third division.
But nobody wants him..
Who gets 110k playing LOI? Figures are way off!!
Fair point Ciaran, they donโt anymore in LOI
average LOI player salary is about 40k
If we are talking per week,LOI is normally bout 750-1000 a week depending on the player(not talkin bout Richie towell)
Are employment contracts that useless in the US??
That is bad luck. Hope he finds another club soon
Mustโve shagged the Gafferโs wife.
Orlando City had to free up an international player spot (per MLS rules). OC has a lot of injuries right nowโฆ.and doing a lot of roster moves. St Ledger got caught in the numbers game more than anything else
Still part of an elite group to score at the European championships for Ireland along with whelan and houghton
Not surprised, he was terrible last week against New York City. He is League of Ireland standard at best.
Heโs no paceโฆ..agree has some good momentsโฆ.but makes costly errorsโฆ.lovely guyโฆ.thatโs professional soccer. Heโs done very well for himself.
@Richard he was done for the villa goal but played left of a back three then right of a back four when chasing it. was good all season when they were keeping clean sheets and kept collin out of the team. harsh in my opinion.
Heโll be signing for Rovers so.
He must be done
wud love him at Villa with Richards at Centre Halfโฆ
Guessing that is a joke?
I watched a few of Orlandoโs games. He was playing quite well !! Thought he might get back into the irish squad again.
