Limerick defeated Wexford in last year's All-Ireland U21 hurling final Cathal Noonan/INPHO

One of Limerick's All-Ireland U21 winning heroes tears cruciate and will miss 2016 senior season

Bruff’s Sean Finn has been ruled out for the season.

THE LIMERICK SENIOR hurlers will have to plan this season without one of the 2015 All-Ireland U21 winning heroes that had been recently drafted in to TJ Ryan’s senior panel.

Sean Finn, corner-back on the U21 team that saw off Wexford in last September’s All-Ireland final, has been ruled out for the rest of the year after tearing his cruciate ligament, according to The Limerick Leader.

Finn suffered the injury when in action for UL in the Fitzgibbon Cup last week, coming off in the first-half of their win against Mary Immaculate College after sustaining the blow.

The Bruff club man had been one of several U21 players called up to the senior setup at the outset of the season by TJ Ryan.

Finn came to prominence on the Limerick minor hurling teams that won Munster titles in 2013 and 2014, while also featuring in the 2014 All-Ireland final when Limerick lost to Kilkenny.

His injury is also a setback for the Limerick U21 team as they defend their Munster and All-Ireland crowns this summer, starting with a quarter-final against Cork on 28 June.

The Limerick senior side begin their Division 1B campaign in the Allianz hurling league on Saturday night against Wexford.

Even as the evidence mounts, it’s hard to see a gutless and spineless IOC take the obviously correct step and ban Russia from Rio. It must happen if we have any hope of a clean future – anything other than that is a tacit endorsement. But I bet the IOC will find some way to let the Russians slide.

At the moment all evidence is pointing toward s a ban. And a ban on Kenya (though they have made big strides in dealing with their problem through parliamentary law)
I hope there is a ban for both countries, but still sad to see genuine competitors banned (even though is it realistic to think they knew nothing)
However your post is just full of negativity. State your point without resorting to overemotional language.

They are not. But don’t use that smokescreen to lead you away from the fact that this was embedded far into the Russian system.
Don’t excuse what they have done (every doper), which is literally cheat people from every country from feeling the joy of earning a medal through dedication and hard work, and natural talent.
And whats more, the cheats are diluting the respect that everyone around the world has(or had) for these athletes, what once was the mark of highest respect, an Olympian, is degraded everytime this is in the news without proper sanctions.
If they dont act now people wont care too much longer
