Dortmund striker Lewandowski denies punching teenager

He’s not that type of player.

ROBERT LEWANDOWSI HAS denied allegations that he punched a teenager who reportedly made an offensive gesture towards him.

The young supporter is reported to have filed a complaint with police, alleging that the Borussia Dortmund striker struck him on the forehead as Lewandowski drove by his home in Dortmund.

Lewandowski, whose decision to join Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich next season has angered many fans, is said to have stopped his vehicle and got out to confront the teenager.

However, the 25-year-old vehemently denies accusations of violence.

“I want to clearly state that I never used violence against people who violated my private sphere,” Lewandowski said in a statement on his Facebook page. “I have no intention of teaching teenagers how to behave but I will not allow for my family and myself to be offended.”

Poland international Lewandowski, who has signed a five-year contract at the Allianz Arena from the 2014-15 season, has received the backing of his current club.

“Robert explained that the boy showed him the middle finger, he then got out of the car, put his hand on his shoulder and asked him why he was doing such a thing,” Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke told Bild.

“Robert swears he never hit the boy in the face and that he never even touched him. I believe Robert 100 per cent.”

James is right. These universities make millions off these athletes and don’t pay them. The NBA need to change their eligibility rules to allow highschool players enter the NBA. Get rid of the ‘One and Done’

@Stipe Miocic: These universities are making billions from these athletes. Players are not allowed get part-time jobs, get gifts or endorsements and sometimes have to get their parents to pay for everyday meals that the players can’t afford.

@EK: it’s a ridiculous state of affairs, the ‘education’ these kids get is a joke, the majority don’t complete their respective degrees, and the old ‘they’re getting a free education’ is nonsense, a few years ago Time magazine did a piece about it and what SEC colleges were making, it was around the time Johnny Manziel got suspended for getting paid for an autograph signing, that year the University of Texas ‘Longhorns’ revenue from their football program was $105 million, profit on that, $85million, there isn’t too many businesses with margins like that

@Ruairí Mul: in the week just gone there was a Notre Dame footballer who tweeted he was ‘broke and starving’, someone from south bend (where the college is based) responded saying he was welcome in their home for dinner, if he had taken up their offer he would be in breach of NCAA rules
