ROBBIE KEANE CAPTAINED the LA Galaxy to another Western Conference title on Sunday night.
Juninho’s second-half strike proved vital as the Galaxy lost 2-1 against the Seattle Sounders but won on away goals after a 2-2 aggregate draw.
Bruce Arena’s side can now become the first franchise to win five MLS cups when they host Eastern Conference champs the New England Revolution this coming Sunday.
A win would also complete a hat-trick for Keane who won championships stateside in both 2011 and 2012, and is fancied to be named the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) this season.
LA’s first-leg lead was wiped out when Brad Evans scored in the 26th minute and then Clint Dempsey’s shot squirmed under goalkeeper Jaime Penedo to give the Sounders the lead on aggregate.
But Juninho’s perfectly-placed strike nine minutes into the second half clinched an eighth conference title and set up a showdown with the Revolution.
Here’s the goal:

Good man Robbie.
Delighted for him
Moving to America was genius move for Robbie, if he was still in England he would probably be knocking around Hull or Brighton now, getting the shite kicked outta him while be slated for being passed it, instead he is a superstar in sunny LA, banging in goals for fun and winning trophies.
Good man Robbie Keane. Well deserved.
Keane is a all time Ireland great still playing still scoring goals, its no surprise he is being touted as MVP,he is a legend,he has been a major success in the MLS,he is one of the top international strikers ever,he was in the all time top ten goalscorers in the EPL For years until he left,to say that he is playing at a level akin to league one is just stupidity or a troll trying to wind Keane fans up,he is beyond critisism for all he has done for little Irealnd, anyone that slates him knows nothing about the game, and probably only played in on the playstation!!!
Well said Fitzy.
People can troll all they want, he’s the second highest paid MLS player. He gets paid $4.3m/year to play soccer in LA, I don’t think he cares!
Keane has done a massive amount of service to the Irish team but it says alot about the American League when keane is tipped to be most valuable player.
Precisely.
And former Galaxy head reckoned the MLS was on par with the Premiership.
Past Premiership players who have gone there say it’s about level with Division 1 in England.
Quality is sorta beside the point. It’s good enough that some teams have built devoted fan bases and that will bring the money eventually. With the money the quality will eventually follow.
Why begrudge him at the end of his playing career, he on the verge of making history in a competitive league and is a nominee for the best player, that’s a good achievement ffs. If you are going to judge him use yourself as a yard stick for comparison.
It’s not begrudging keane anything, he’ll go down in Ireland’s history as one of our best players ever and I’m judging the mls league more than keane. Robbie could’ve picked up his cheque and enjoyed the Californian sun but he obviously still has the same attitude when he first started which is great to see. I don’t think anyone could begrudge keane anythg, I’m simply stating the standard in the mls is quite poor
Congrats Captain Robbie K
