RICHARD COCKERILL’S TIME out of the job hasn’t lasted long.
Four days after he was sacked as director of rugby at Leciester Tigers, Cockerill has joined Toulon until the end of the season.
According to a press release from the three-time European champions, Cockerill is being brought to the south of France by head coach Mike Ford as a consultant.
The 46-year-old, who had been on the coaching staff at Welford Road since 2005, was let go earlier this week after defeats to Exeter Chiefs and Saracens.
Leicester also suffered a record 38-0 loss to Munster last month in the Champions Cup, although that result was avenged in the return fixture seven days later.
Toulon currently sit in fourth place in the Top 14, five points behind leaders Clermont Auvergne. Defeats to Saracens and Scarlets have left them in second place, eight points behind the English champions, in a Champions Cup pool that also includes Sale Sharks.
Messi will be transferring at the end of the season
@SaveTheTrees: Surely not with that monstrous wage bill and mid covid!? Barca are financially hand-cuffed to him for good I feel… Signed their own death warrant putting him on that contract, unless he goes for free.
