LOVE HIM OR hate him when former Ireland and Manchester United star Roy Keane speaks, people listen.
The Corkman ignited a war of words with his former club manager Alex Ferguson when he said Manchester United “got what they deserved” when they were knocked out of the Champions League.
The Scot hit back immediately, questioning Keane’s record as a manager but his ex-captain has now retorted in fine style by suggesting that much of Fergie’s success has to be put down – in some way – to the players he had around him.
So, does he have a point?

There's only one Keano. Whatever he says, he always has a valid point. He only wants to see improvements at Manchester United/Ireland. (220)
Football needs more people willing to give strong opinions, whether they are right or wrong. (215)
Keane needs to learn to have some respect for the people around him and voice his opinions in private. (128)
its difficult to continue to have respect for Roy Keane when he continues to to be self indulgent and throwing his Roys toys out of his pram. Of course Fergie is a tyrant and only concerned with himself. otherwise Man Utd would still be languishing in mid table with mediocre success like many other good clubs. but no, he is obsessed with success and driven to achieve. he knows when to dispense with those who are an impediment to his goals. Roy i,m afraid will be old and bitter before he realises this.
Roy wears the Poppy on TV, would he wear it on Patrick Street in Cork. dont think so. a man of principles.
Seen as its British TV he was on I highly doubt he was given much of a choice in the poppy department Im afraid…But in regards to what he has said although he needs to stop and think more before he speaks instead of shooting off everytime im inclined to agree with him even if I dont want to. United simply werent good enough in the CL to qualify, Teams who arent good enough to qualify dont deserve to….as much as it pains me to say it :( saying Fergies success is based on the players is a swings and round-a-bouts sort of argument coz while it is true, Fergie is the one who picks the players, they can argue all day and neither of them will win.
Well said @Robbie
@Jim, i think you misunderstand what the poppy represents much like a lot of other people…… it is in rememberance of those who gave there lifes in WW1 and WW2….. some of which were Irish who fought in the british, austrailian, new zealand and american armies. If he was wearing a rose it would be different but the poppy is symbol gives thanks to those who gave there lifes for something greater than themselves……. so let him were it down Pana if he wants :)
Needs a 4th option of, I dont care what roy keane has to say and never will.
Roy is dead right …. Sir Alex’s success is due to players that he has around him.
So well done Alex on being a good enough manager to bring the right people and players into your club around so that you can win titles.
I think it is sad that the 2 of them have come to this considering all the achieved together.
