Pogba: Liverpool clash bigger than Manchester derby

The world-record signing is aware of the significance of the weekend’s clash, putting it ahead of his team’s traditional grudge match against City

MAN UTD MIDFIELDER Paul Pogba is bracing himself for Sunday’s blockbuster showdown against Liverpool, a game he labelled bigger than the Manchester derby.

United welcome rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford with both teams in fine form in the Premier League, particularly Pogba and Co.

A resurgence under manager Jose Mourinho has seen United go 15 matches unbeaten in all competitions and 11 in the Premier League to sit sixth in the standings and five points adrift of second-placed Liverpool.

And world-record signing Pogba is aware of the significance of the clash, putting it ahead of the Manchester City fixture.

“The history of fixture is well known. It is a big derby, more so than Manchester City,” Pogba told BBC’s The Premier League Show.

“The atmosphere is always very special.

“You want three points against any team, but it is more special when it comes against Liverpool.”

United head into the match on the back of a 2-0 win over Hull City in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals midweek, while Liverpool suffered a 1-0 loss to Southampton in the same competition.

Up to the heady heights of 15th! Gonna cut the arms off my tracksuit top in tribute to Tim. Keep up the good work and keep big Ben banging them in and we might see another season of premier league football at villa park. Great result with has has happened elsewhere down the bottom.

Villa always seem to grab a few important wins towards the tail end of the season, they’ll stay up this year.

What a job pardew is doing with palace they were 10 pts behind newcastle at one stage and now they are 7 pts clear and could finish as high as 8th.

Two weeks ago Leicester being in this position would have been unthinkable. The way Sunderland and Hull are playing, I wouldn’t be surprised if themselves and Burnley make it (Can’t see QPR doing it).

Kinda sick of sunderland at this stage, wouldn’t mind both goin down. Really want to see Burnley stay up. Imagine a team with Stephen Ward avoiding relegation? Jaassysus
