CHELSEA ARE REPRESENTED by six players in the Premier League PFA Team of the Year.

Defensive trio John Terry, Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic are joined by midfielder Nemanja Matic, favourite for the PFA Player of the Year award Eden Hazard and centre forward Diego Costa for the league leaders but Cesc Fabregas misses out.
Meanwhile, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Southampton and Tottenham all have one player in the line-up, which was announced this afternoon.
Last season’s champions Manchester City do not feature, however.
The PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year will both be named at tonight’s awards ceremony at Grosvenor House in London.
What would your Team of the Year look like?
Gary Cahill should not be on that team.
Agreed. He got dropped after the Carling Cup semi after Sterling gave him a roasting.
He was at fault for 4 of the 5 goals Spurs put by them also. His limitations are usually covered by Chelsea’s defensive approach but this season I thought he was poor in a good few games.
I’d say Zouma will start ahead of him next season
Neither should Ivanovic, Azpilicueta and Clyne would be my full backs.
How is Cahill there ahead of fonte?
When Bertrand went to Southampton I half wrote off his career in my head and thought he’d already reached his peak with Chelsea and would slowly desend into obscurity with Southampton. But surprisingly (to me anyway) the move gave him the platform to make his way into the team of the year. Chelsea deservidly dominate the team. They never looked like being caught all season really
How Coutinho got in ahead of Fabregas is beyond me.
Coutinho 4 goals and 5 assists
Fabregas 3 goals and 17 assists
Even Raheem Sterling who has come under massive scrutiny this season has 7 goals and 8 assists.
coutinho has rubbish around him. John Terry voted for him as player of the year, must be doing something right for other players to take notice
Surely Austin or aguero above costa
I’d swap ivanovic with clyne, Cahill with fonte, and coutinho with fabregas.
Agreed
Fabregas disappeared in the middle of the season while Hazard and Matic kept the midfield ticking over. Coutinho has been more consistent this season and has won games for Liverpool by himself this season.
Shitetalk
How exactly? Fabregas was brilliant in the beginning but has almost vanished since November. He has a lot of assists ok, but Mignolet has the most clean sheets in the league, are you going to say that he’s better than De Gea or Courtois?
No because Mignolet was directly at fault for numerous goals in the first half of the season and got dropped accordingly.if Coutinho, who is a CREATIVE midfielder only directly creates 4 goals and scores 4 others, what else is he contributing?
So, you’re going to base a player’s performance purely on misleading stats? Charlie Austin has 17 PL goals this season, Luis Suarez has 11 La Liga goals, now granted he was out til November but La Liga is supposedly an easier league and he also has better players around him, so does that mean that Barca should’ve bought Austin instead? Footballers are more than just numbers and Coutinho brings more to a team than just goals and assists. He attacks players and is almost always the source of our goals as he transitions defence into attack.
My point is stats are totally misleading, yet you seem to value them so highly. And the only reason you and I know that De Gea is better than Mignolet is because we watch the games, but if we were to base everything purely off of stats, then Simon would be the best GK in the league.
And Fabregas is a creative midfielder too by the way.
Yea and hes set up 17 goals……ur contradicting urself.chat ya later
fran go back and watch liverpool and chelsea this season at stamford bridge. Coutinho made fabregas look like a championship player at times , fabregas was subbed shortly after half time.
I’m surprised McShane isn’t in the back 4. Class they he went down yesterday when he knew he was beaten to the ball.
Ah yes, the old ‘I’m going to say paul mc shane is world class and everyone will think I’m a gas man ‘ angle. I’d take being a millionaire in my twenties whilst having been on the books of one of the biggest clubs in the world and playing in front of 30-70,000 people each week any day.
Mr common sense just got owned ouccchhhh.
Does team of the year always have to be 4-4-2?
If the defenders were not up to scratch this year it could have been 352, 343, 433 etc.
Do the players have to pick 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers or how does it work?
I’d have Henderson in ahead of Coutinho..
Coutinho and Cahill out, Sigurdsson and Fonte in.
Think Bony would have been in the team had he not moved to City.
Swap Clyne for Cahill, Aguero for Costa & Silva for Coutinho.
So play with 2 right fulls then?
Silva has had a poor season by his standards
Ivanovic can play centre half.
Coutinho made Silva look pretty average in the City game. He’s been our only good player all season.
Ivanovic in centre back obviously which he plays regularly enough
What? Cahil and Terry always play CB, and when one is injured Zouma comes in. Ivanovic has played CB a handful of times for Chelsea; he’s a RB through and through, and the PFA and the players aren’t going to shove him in at CB just to accomodate Clyne, who isn’t nearly the best RB this season.
So your suggesting that Ivanovic is one of the best centre halves in the league this season when he doesn’t even play there regularly?
Fonte is robbed of a spot instead of Cahill and How a fella with close to 20 assists doesnt get in is beyond me.Coutinho has been picked because he’s so stylish.Always has lovely touches but doesnt always have substance behind it.The team is reflective of a pretty average Premier League season i think
Close to or got 20. Name the figure and back it up orther wise don’t sensationalise.
Leave the S*n at that.
My Team of the Year:
De Gea
Clyne, Fonte, Terry, Bertrand
Hazard, Matic, Fabregas, Sanchez
Kane, Costa
Aguero before Kane any day.
Cahill should not be there.
