HORSE RACING TRAINER Oliver Brady sadly passed away last night following a long battle with cancer.
Horse Racing Ireland has today confirmed the death of the popular Monaghan man. He was first diagnosed with cancer back in 1995 and underwent several operations since then.
Brady was known for his great charity work in raising money for the Shabra Charity Foundation, which he established with his business partner Rita Shah.
Amongst his best horses were Maralan, who won two Grade Two chases within the space of a week in February 2008, and Ebadiyan, successful in the Grade Three Punchestown Juvenile Hurdle in January 2009.
Tributes have been paid this morning to the Monaghan man:
The Celtic tigers
Limerick Layabouts
The Tullow Tanks – made up entirely of Sean O’Briens offspring
The Flying Columns
The Galway Hookers anyone?
The Leeside Langballs.
Corkonian langers.
The navan numptys
who cares gridiron isnt wanted here
Ignoring the irony of you reading a story about a sport you allegedly don’t care about, it’s worth pointing out that, to a growing number of people, it is very much wanted here.
Exhibit A: The 50k people who turned up in the Aviva last September to watch a college football game.
Exhibit B: The GAA and others extensive moves to get an NFL game played in Croke Park.
Exhibit C: The Irish American Football League has a record number of teams and players taking part this year.
But you don’t like it David, so obviously nobody else in the country does.
Completely agree
The Blarney Bailouts
Newry mighty ducks
The Dingle Dolphins surely.
