OFFALY GAA CHIEFS have announced a lucrative ten-year naming rights partnership with Bord na Móna for O’Connor Park in Tullamore.
The venue will now be known as Bord na Móna O’Connor Park after the company struck a deal with Offaly GAA.
Bord na Móna CEO Mike Quinn said: “Bord na Móna O’Connor Park is the latest initiative by Bord na Móna to further cement our links with the people of Offaly and Offaly GAA.
“We have a long and distinguished history in delivering for these communities down through the years and we will continue to do so into the future.
“Bord na Móna has always been the dominant employer in this region, which in no small part led to on field success of Offaly teams in capturing Sam Maguire and Liam McCarthy in the 70s, 80s and 90s.
“All of the teams had real and tangible links to Bord na Móna. The naming agreement for Bord na Móna O’Connor Park is the latest chapter in the rich and illustrious history of both organisations.”
Offaly county board chairman Tommy Byrne expressed his delight with the news.
“This is a very natural fit for both organisations. Everybody across the county knows the value Bord na Móna has brought to the people of Offaly down through the years.
“This naming agreement demonstrates real confidence by them in the entire Offaly GAA structure and we are delighted to have them come on board with us in what is a very positive step for all concerned.”
The Bord na Móna agreement will significantly boost Offaly GAA coffers and the Faithful County is following the lead of Wexford, Carlow, Westmeath, Longford, Mayo and Cavan, who have similar agreements with other sponsors in place.

Well done to Offaly GAA. I wish other sports would show as much entrepeneur ability.
@hallelujah: this stadium was built with lotto funding, our taxes and local volunteers, what right do Offaly Gaa have to sell commercial rights to such a municipal resource?
@An_Beal_Bocht: Do you have a similar objection to the name of the Aviva Stadium? Or is it just GAA matters that you like to give out about?
@An_Beal_Bocht: or what about Tallaght Stadium? 100% public funded, then handed over to a Commercial insolvent soccer club. Why not whinge about that!
@Pat Mangan: How was Tallaght “handed over”? Rovers are using it for what it was designed for, on a long term lease, also they haven’t sold any naming rights as far as I know – sure they wouldn’t be entitled to seeing as they don’t own it. How are those two situations analogous? The Gaa is supposed to be an amateur voluntary organisation.
@Jumperoo: Don’t get him started on rugby – there will be no end to the whinging and whining.
Great spot for a match, very accessible
Biffos planning a big spend in the summer transfer market! Pints of red diesel all round. I wonder.what the boyos from shinrone wotsapp group make of this
I wonder how much its worth to the GAA?
6 figure sum over 10 years seemingly!
