HE MAY HAVE been at the centre of the most high-profile transfers in recent memory, but Seanie Johnston will watch from the sidelines as his adopted team take on his native county this weekend.
Johnston has not been named in the starting XV, by Kildare manager Kieran McGeeney, ahead of the All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Cavan on Sunday at Breffni Park.
It remains to be seen if the forward has recovered from a shoulder knock which he picked up in training last week. Johnston made a 40-second cameo for hurling side Coill Dubh that copperfastened his transfer to the Lilywhites two weeks ago.
Elsewhere, Ollie Lyons and Padraig OโNeill have been dropped in the wake of the shock Leinster SFC semi-final defeat to Meath at Croke Park last time out; Andriรบ MacLochlainn and Robert Kelly are drafted in to a side which sees several positional switches.
Throw in is scheduled for 3pm on Sunday - follow the action here.
Kildare (to face Cavan, All-Ireland SFC qualifiers): S Connolly; A MacLochlainn, M Foley, P Kelly; E Bolton, M OโFlaherty, H McGrillen; D Flynn, R Kelly; E OโFlaherty, M Conway, A Smith; J Doyle, T OโConnor, J Kavanagh.
Heโs likely to be in for some abuse if heโs sitting on the bench- proximity to the smart arses in the crowds etc.
Go to Kildare they said ! And win the Leinster title they said ! It will be grand you never meet Cavan they said not looking so goon now is it Sรฉanie
Iโd say McGeeney is sorry he ever considered bringing in Seanie Johnson. What looked like a promising season is slowly turning out to be an unmitigated disaster. I feel sorry for their long suffering fans, who have been waiting since 1928 for an All Ireland title. Oh well. Meath and Dublin in the Leinster Final, normal order is resumed.
If he plays in that game there is going to be war! Is the game on tv?
Cill Dara Abu! Hope we can win Sunday. Very strong team named.its time to move on from the Seanie saga and get on with the job. Kildare have a great team. We believe
