Munster add two of Ireland's U20 World Cup finalists to academy

Limerick man Max Clein and Westmeath native Ronan Foxe have been drafted in by the southern province.

MUNSTER HAVE ADDED Ireland U20 internationals Max Clein and Ronan Foxe to their academy.

Hooker Clein and tighthead prop Foxe both featured for Richie Murphy’s Ireland 20s on their run to the World Championship final over the summer, with Foxe starting both the semi-final and final and Clein coming off the bench in the decider against France.

Limerick man Clein came through at Garryowen and won a Munster Schools Senior Cup with Crescent College Comprehensive in 2022, starring at blindside alongside current Munster back row Ruadhán Quinn.

Clein, 20, featured for Munster A and a Munster Development side before lining out for the Ireland over the summer, and made 10 appearances for Garryowen in the AIL last season.

Foxe, also 20, hails from Rahugh in Westmeath. He played his club rugby with Midland Warriors and Tullamore and has represented Leinster at age-grade level.

Foxe made 13 appearances for Old Belvedere last season and will line out for Garryowen this campaign.

His and Clein’s sign-ups takes Munster’s academy stock to 18, six of whom were involved in Saturday’s bonus-point URC win over South Africa’s Sharks at Thomond Park.

“Roche’s goal is the not only better than Robin van Persie’s and James Rodriguez’s, they argue, but it’s also harder to recreate”

Great goal and all and im aure she is a quality player but come on she scored it against wexford youths womens team.

Not Spain or Uruguay in a world cup.

Not saying i could score a goal like that cause i couldnt kick my way out of a paper bag

But you will see a goal of its calibre at any astroturf around the country.
