HOW TONY KEADY would have enjoyed today.
Galway are All-Ireland champions for the first time since 1988, when Keady himself was at the centre of the Tribe defence.
Keady was on everyone’s thoughts as Galway skipper David Burke lifted the Liam McCarthy Cup, and RTÉ commentator Michael Duignan paid an emotional tribute to the legendary figure at the final whistle.
“Unbelievable. Just on Tony Keady, Marty, I had such time for the man,” said the quivering voice of Duignan.
“At half-time, we were looking at the piece on him there. It’s so heartbreaking for him and his family.
“Whether it was Waterford or Galway today, what it means to both those counties. I’m looking over here at John Mullane and he’s heartbroken. And I’m heartbroken for the people of Waterford but I’m delighted for the people of Galway.
“That’s always the way it was going to be today, what an occasion. What an emotional day.”

I’d have given it to Lee Chin. He was monumental all over the field. Right up to the last play when he won the ball in front of his goalie. Not to mention some of the monster scores he got. O’Connor was excellent as well though and the goal won the game for them

You could have easily given it to 5 or 6 limerick players and nobody would have complained. They are a supurb team and i am very impressed with there backs. Tipp forwards got noting. Tipp will be back though just Bonner Maher is a massive loss
