Michael Conlan hit with maximum fine by boxing chiefs for Rio rant

The Belfast fighter was controversially adjudged to have lost to a Russian.

MICHAEL CONLAN HAS been fined the maximum of 10,000 Swiss Francs by amatuer boxingโ€™s governing body for his post-Olympic Games defeat interview last summer.

The Belfast fighter was controversially adjudged to have lost to Russian Vladimir Nikitin before he launched into an expletive-filled rant which prompted headlines throughout the world.

Conlan has since signed with Top Rank and is set to make his professional debut at Madison Square Gardens on St Patrickโ€™s weekend, so it remains to be seen of heโ€™ll pay the โ‚ฌ9,300 fine to IABA.
