AMERICAN VETERAN FLOYD Mayweather Jr believes UFC champion Conor McGregor has the edge over him on paper as the pair prepare to step into the ring.
Mayweather is coming out of retirement at the age of 40 to fight mixed martial arts star McGregor on 26 August.
McGregor, 29, will step away from the octagon and into the ring against Mayweather, who is 49-0 in his career having not fought since 2015. And Mayweather claims he is not the same fighter he used to be ahead of this monthโs blockbuster showdown.
โHeโs a lot younger. When you look at myself and Conor McGregor on paper, heโs taller, has a longer reach, heโs a bigger man from top to bottom. Heโs a lot younger, so youth is on his side,โ Mayweather told ESPN.
โAnd Iโve been off a couple of years. And Iโm in my 40s. So, if you look at everything on paper, it leans toward Conor McGregor.โ
Mayweather added: โIโm older. Iโm not the same fighter I was two years ago. Iโm not the same fighter I was five years ago. I lost a step.
โA fighter like Andre Berto isnโt even supposed to go the distance with Floyd Mayweather, but remember, I was 38. Itโs obvious Iโm slipping a little bit to even let a fighter like that go the distance with me.
โIโm not what I used to be. I used to have a 90 percent knockout ratio. Itโs obvious I slipped somewhere. Something has taken a toll on my career.โ
He continued: โI didnโt say I couldnโt fight. I just said Iโm not the same Floyd Mayweather I once was.โ
a lot of people thought fergie had lost the plot when he sold hughes, ince and kanchelskis that summer
@kris hetherington yea I thought it was the end of the world that summer . especially with sparky going he was and always will be one of the heroes.fergie knew what he was doing all the same.even the class of 92 were shocked at the time but it gave them the extra bit of confidence that the greatest manager of all time 100% believed in them.oh sparky wha a player they donโt make m like that anymore
Sparky was my hero in them days was so delighted when fergie brought him back and then devastated when he left again. Always went for the spectacular and 9 out of 10 times it came off.
Feel sorry for Moyes obviously a sell to buy policy in place. I suppose he feels he needs a backup forward in case Defoe gets injured so has to sell Van Aanholt to get Ulloa and Gibson.
Van aaronholt to palace is a good signing very attack minded
But heโs a defender and he has one flaw, he canโt defend.
Brady to West Ham
Sheโs already there
