JOSE ALDO IS set to face off against Max Holloway at the main event of UFC 218, giving the Brazilian an opportunity to reclaim the 145 pound title.
Holloway was originally supposed to meet Frankie Edgar for the headline event on 2 December at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, however the former lightweight champion was forced to pull out due to injury.
Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com on Saturday reported that Aldo will now take Edgarโs place.
Aldo and Holloway are set to meet for the second time in the space of six months after Aldo was defeated for the featherweight title last June via TKO in the third round.

UFC 218 was expected to see Holloway face off against former UFC lightweight champion Edgar.
The 36-year-old took to social media earlier this week to confirm he had been forced to pull out due to a minor setback which should see him return to action in approximately six weeks.
Aldo, meanwhile, will now get the opportunity to reclaim the featherweight title.
He was the only champion in the divisionโs history until Conor McGregor took the title after just 13 seconds when the pair met in December 2015 at UFC 194.
