SEATTLE SEAHAWKS RUNNING back Marshawn Lynch gave another single-answer news conference after his teamโs 35-6 demolition of the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday night.
Lynch is known for his aversion to the media. He was fined $100,000 for refusing to talk to reporters after a game in November. He responded by answering โyeahโ to every question at a news conference the next week.
On Sunday he did the same thing, but with the phrase, โThanks for asking.โ
Hereโs the transcript from Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times (video below):
On his big run for the touchdown: โThank you.โ
On how his stomach is feeling: โThank you for asking.โ
On if he is feeling better: โThanks for asking.โ
On what he saw on the long touchdown run: โThanks for asking.โ
On his touchdown run: โThanks for asking. (Reporter: โWhatโs that?โ) I said, โthanks for asking.โ (Reporter: โCan you talk about the run?โ) I know. I said, โthank you for asking.โ I appreciate it.โ
On if he can describe the 79-yard touchdown run: โThanks for asking.โ
On his stomach issues early in the game: โI appreciate you asking about my stomach. Thank you.โ
On if there was any concern if he was going to play at all tonight: โThanks for asking. I appreciate it.โ
The NFL can force Lynch to talk to the media, but the league canโt force him to say anything meaningful.
This is more interesting than 98% of athlete interviews anyway:
