ALL-STAR DEFENDER Keith Higgins will captain the Mayo footballers in 2015.
The Ballyhaunis man, who captained Mayo to All-Ireland U21 glory in 2006, takes over the armband from Andy Moran.
Cillian O’Connor has been named vice-captain by managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes.
Higgins sparked speculation about his imminent retirement last week when he jokingly tweeted that he was “#callingitaday” before back-tracking.
