St Pat's boost attacking options by adding ex-Bournemouth striker O'Hanlon

The 21-year-old returns to the League of Ireland having previously played for Longford Town.

AS THEY GET set to begin their 2017 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division campaign at home to Bray Wanderers on Friday night, St Patrickโ€™s Athletic have announced the signing of 21-year-old striker Josh Oโ€™Hanlon.

The Dubliner returns to the League of Ireland on a permanent basis, having left Longford Town in 2013 to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal with Bournemouth.

โ€œJosh is a particularly good signing,โ€ St Patโ€™s manager Liam Buckley told the clubโ€™s official website. โ€œHeโ€™s been in training with us for the last few weeks and weโ€™ve seen him in a couple of the friendly games too in which heโ€™s done really well.

โ€œHeโ€™s a strong boy, technically very good and will link the play well for us. Iโ€™m looking forward to working with him.โ€

After impressing for Longford during the 2013 season, Oโ€™Hanlon was snapped up by Bournemouth but was unable to make a first-team breakthrough for the English club, who have since been promoted to the Premier League.

Oโ€™Hanlon went on to have loan spells with Oxford City, Poole Town and Chester, as well as returning temporarily to Longford at the beginning of the 2016 League of Ireland season.

He moved to League Two club Newport County last summer and made 10 appearances for the Welsh outfit but was released in January.

โ€œI wasnโ€™t really sure what I was going to do when I came home from England in January. Iโ€™ve done pre-season with Patโ€™s and am happy to finally get it done,โ€ Oโ€™Hanlon said.

โ€œI wanted to come back into a full-time club in Ireland. Playing part-time is something I wasnโ€™t interested in. Having been in the UK, I needed to stay training every day and Iโ€™m happy Liam and St Patโ€™s have given me the chance to do that.โ€

    5 year unbeaten runโ€ฆ

Yes, lets list the European giants who went and failed:

Newcastle Falcons, Newport Gwent Dragons (x2), Edinburgh, Leeds Tykes (Iโ€™m not joking, this is the real list), Cardiff Blues, Calvisano, Beneton Treviso (x2), London Wasps, Castres & London Irishโ€ฆ

    Confirmed: Everest conquered.

All three French internationals were no match for the mighty Munster. For updates, tune into the Pro D2.

USAP were virtually unbeatable in that stadium before Munster won there, not just in Europe. I seem to recall something like a 35 match unbeaten run before Munster played there.

Must be a burden to have such a large chip on your shoulder.

I would say its not much of a burden as it well balanced with a chip on both shoulders. How sad to waste your time looking all that info up in the first place.
