BURNLEY HAVE ANNOUNCED the signing of Jon Walters from Stoke City on a two-year deal, with the striker becoming the clubโs fifth Irish international.
Walters leaves Stoke after seven years to join Robbie Brady, Jeff Hendrick, Kevin Long and Stephen Ward at Turf Moor ahead of the 2017/18 season.
The 33-year-old is Burnleyโs second signing of the summer following the arrival of left-back Charlie Taylor and his acquisition is a shrewd piece of business from Clarets boss Sean Dyche.
After Burnley had an initial bid rejected by the Potters, Dyche returned with an improved offer and the fee agreed between the clubs could rise to โฌ3.3 million.
Walters had one year left on his contract at Stoke and having started just 13 Premier League games last term, manager Mark Hughes was obviously willing to cash in once the right offer was made.
In total, Walters made 269 appearances for Stoke and scored 62 goals.
He will meet up with his new team-mates on Monday before the squadโs pre-season trip to Ireland.

He plays up to the big sport jock stereotypes but probably one of the smartest to play the game. Hasnโt spent a cent of his salary over the years, living solely off promotional work.
Gets out of the league with 3 Superbowls, hall of fame status (I assume), millions of dollars, and most importantly a still functioning brain.
