Joel Campbell, Costa Rica's influential attacker, will be given Arsenal chance

Arsene Wenger has revealed the 21 year-old will be back at the Emirates for pre-season.

AFTER SINGLE-HANDEDLY destroying Uruguay in his team’s World Cup Group D opener on Saturday, Costa Rican hero Joel Campbell has been assured of his future at Arsenal.

The youngster scored one and set up another as his country secured a shock 3-1 victory over their South American rivals in Fortaleza.

But despite joining Arsenal from Saprissa for £1 million in 2011, he’s been unable to secure a work permit and, as a result, has been farmed out on loan to a variety of clubs ever since. Starting out in France with Lorient, he then joined Real Betis in Spain and spent last season with Greek side Olympiakos. His reputation grew substantially after a wonder-strike against Manchester United in the Champions League knock-out stage in February. He enjoyed an impressive stint at the club, finishing with 9 goals in 37 games.

Having missed Campbell’s performance because he was travelling in Brazil, his Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger did confirm that the forward will return to North London once the World Cup wraps up.

He will definitely come back to us for pre-season. He is maturing well.”

Campbell’s inspiring performance did receive plenty of admiration from his Premier League employers with the official Arsenal Twitter account signing his praises.

How are they persevering with Sanchez? Be a great spot for Kelleher now. Could win a few trophies there.

Haaland was the Haaland from his Dortmund days in that second half so direct and bullying that Chelsea defence. Marmoush looks dangerous City have some options now attacking wise out wide also with Marmoush playing as a second striker too they have options to play different styles again. Still need a holding midfielder or someone who can run in the midfield.
