Jim Stynes dies following long battle with cancer

The AFL legend is understood to have passed away in a ‘pain free, dignified and peaceful’ manner.

JIM STYNES HAS died at the age of 45 after a long battle with cancer, it has been announced.

The AFL legend had been fighting the disease since the diagnosis was made two and a half years ago, and is understood to have passed away in a ‘pain free, dignified and peaceful’ manner.

Stynes’ wife, Sam, posted a message on the Jimbo Super Muesli Facebook page, thanking fans for their messages of support. It read:

“In his final days Jim was immersed with insurmountable love and tenderness surrounded by his family and some close friends in the comfort of his own home.

“On behalf of Jim my heartfelt thanks to all those who have so generously cared for, guided and supported Jim throughout his challenging cancer battle.”

The Irishman gained legendary status in Aussie Rules circles, after becoming the first non-Australian player to claim the Brownlow Medal, having previously made the switch from GAA as part of the ‘Irish Experiment’.

The fight reminded me of the Simpsons episode when Homer fought hobo Boxcar Bob in Moe’s Bar

Good to see him back. He was always going to win, needs a few more fights under his belt to get back into the groove. Great entrance as well!

@Brocky Jennings: Ya think? Give him a couple of higher Calibre opponents and get him back to previous levels and I think he beats both.

@EnKy: well said . HD can beat anyone as long as he’s on his game . He def beats wilder in my eyes but not 100% sure about Joshua . Anyone who says he can’t beat either know little
