OUT-OF-FAVOUR Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez has joined Bayern Munich on a two-year loan deal, the German club have confirmed.
The Colombia international earned a big-money move to Real Madrid from Monaco after starring at the 2014 World Cup, finishing top scorer at that competition with six goals, but he struggled to live up to big expectations thereafter.
The 25-year-old found first-team football hard to come by last season, with boss Zinedine Zidane leaving the player out of their Champions League final squad last June.
Man United were previously heavily linked with the out-of-favour star, but Bayern Munich today confirmed via a statement that they had won the race to sign him.
“FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have agreed on the change of Colombian national player James Rodriguez to the German championship on Tuesday,” it read.
The two clubs agreed on a two-year loan transaction until June 30, 2019 with the following purchase option for FC Bayern Munich.
“James Rodriguez will sign his contract in Munich after successfully completing the compulsory medical check.”
“We’re delighted we’ve been able to complete this transfer,” Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added.
Signing James Rodriguez was our coach Carlo Ancelotti’s biggest wish, following their successful spell working together in Madrid.
“James is a very versatile player. He’s a goalscorer himself, he sets up a lot of goals and on top of that he’s great from set-pieces. There’s no question that this transfer further increases the quality in our team.”

Bayern always seem to pull off some brilliant deals in the transfer market. Two year loan for James, two year loan for Coman when they first took him from Juve, Vidal for £28 million on the back of a CL Final…. and thats just off the top of my head. Imagine the money if those deals were done in England???? Some business.
@Cillian McCormick: €42 million is the German transfer record…
Great deal why pay £60,000,000, when you can get him for 2 years on loan.
Bayern squad is redicilous, how many midfielders does one team need. Signed Tolisso at the start of the summer as well.
So he’s going to United Liverpool City Chelsea Arsenal PSG Spurs (I think ) …. Ye missed one , it’s Munich !!! Fuking tabloids and I see United are linked with £500M worth of talent , about 8 players mentioned today … joke.
@John Hayes: I actually read an article earlier today stating that Addidas were funding James’ move to United cos they want him to have the No. 10 jersey there. I mean where do they get this $hîtê from?????
@Cillian McCormick: newspapers Cillian and social media , as painful as it is to have to read the shite at least now it’s not costing you get it online whereas there was a time when people would be clambering to get there hands on a newspaper that’s mentioned a club and players ‘they are buying ‘

@The Jacket: Christ lay off the drugs ya sap everyone knows neeneee and Alan are the same person. Try to keep like a good lad
@John Hayes: wait for The Sanchez one , apparently this morning paddy power in Manchester have slashed the odd on Sanchez going to Utd from 50/1 because someone has just put basically put his house on it happening !

strange transfer… Madrid must be in need of cash…
@yoloboyz: they get fcuk all
@yoloboyz: he’s 3rd choice at Madrid, Asensio and Isco are ahead of him in the pecking order
@Ollie Watson: um they don’t have to pay his wages which unlike transfer fees can’t be postponed till a later date… so yeah getting nothing doesn’t help but it’s wages which screw teams not transfer fees per say
