James Nolan commemorative match set to take place

Blessington FC will take on a team of Polish journalists in memory of the young Irish fan who lost his life in Bydgoszcz during Euro 2012.

THE MAYOR OF Bydgoszcz,  Rafal Bruski, Blessington FC and the Polish FA have come together to organise a football match in memory of James Nolan, it has been announced.

The match, which takes place on 13 October, will see Blessington FC take on a team of Polish journalists.

It kicks off at 3pm at Crosschapel, Blessington,  and will be attended by the Mayor of Bydgoszcz along with Polish FA and FAI representatives.

Nolan passed away earlier this year, after his body was found in a canal in Bydgoszcz, where he had travelled to in order to support Ireland in the 2012 European Championships.

Now, there’s a player who’s really kicked on this year. A year ago I was thinking he wouldn’t cut it.

@Louis Jacob: You weren’t the only one. Very glad to be proven wrong.
