Everton midfielder James McCarthy, who has been out with a groin injury since 23 August, gets the nod in midfield ahead of Glenn Whelan and is included alongside Robbie Brady, Jeff Hendrick, James McClean and Jon Walters.
Southampton’s Shane Long looks set to start as the lone striker.
Meanwhile, the Georgian team shows four changes to the one that lost 2-1 to Austria last time out.

Is that all we’re going to hear when someone calls for Wes? Is that you Eamon? How witty. Wes is one of our most technically gifted ball players since Duff and possibly Brady before that. It’s a joke he’s not starting. Also he’s not and never has been an impact sub, don’t know why people are saying that, he’s poorest performances have all been from the bench. The likes of McLean is much more of a natural impact sub
@an beal look the chances of Wes being in Russia if we qualify are very very slim., Yes he still has a part to play but we need to start to look at others.
The chances of getting to Russia are less without Wes, plus you have to feel sorry for the punters who pay good money in and not see our current best players
Surely you pick your best team possible during the qualifiers and Wes is our best player. Otherwise you may not make it to Russia.
