THE REPUBLIC OF Ireland dropped two places in the latest Fifa ranking, despite picking up two victories in October.
Although they beat Georgia and Moldova, Martin O’Neill’s team fell to 33rd in the table, which was updated on 20 October, and they find themselves behind Senegal and the Ivory Coast.
The drop marks the first change in three months, after staying fixed in August and September.
Ireland’s next World Cup qualifying opponents, Austria, who they face in November, have also dropped places, falling four to 30th. Group D’s top seeds, Wales, meanwhile dropped out of the top 10 and are now 11th.
Lionel Messi and Argentina are still ranked number one in the world, while Germany and Brazil have moved up into second and third respectively. Belgium have dropped two places to fourth.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal have dropped one place to eighth, despite the Euro 2016 champions posting 6-0 wins over the Faroe Islands and Andorra last month.
Northern Ireland, who lost to Germany and beat San Marino in October, have continued their slide down the ranking table and they now find themselves below their southern counterparts in 36th place, just ahead of Paraguay and Tunisia.
Elsewhere, England remain unchanged in 12th, while Scotland fell a massive 13 places to 57th.

I thought he was in big trouble when the Dragons players started looking for attention for him
Ah sure he’s grand. He will be playing the Bulldogs on Friday
I hope do, my fantasy side needs him desperately!
Old Rusty Crowe was looking worried while he was getting treated. All that money he stumped up for Burgesses new contract!
He was probably more concerned about a young man having a potentially life changing injury.
You’re a moron
He was thinking maybe should have signed Teo from Leinster instead.
