INTER MILAN HAVE been hit with a two-match stadium closure as punishment for racist chanting directed towards Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly during a Serie A game on 26 December.
The club said they would not appeal the Lega Serie A decision, and have asked the Italian football federation if they can instead invite local schoolchildren to the match against Sassuolo on 19 January.
The stadium will be closed for Sunday’s Italian Cup tie against Benevento.
Koulibaly was subjected to monkey noises from the crowd several times during Inter’s 1-0 win, leading Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti to ask for the match to be halted three times, without success.
There were also violent clashes before the game during which an Inter supporter was killed after being hit by a car.
Inter will also have to play another game with their North Stand closed.

The Nerves. THE ACTUAL NERVES. C’MON LEINSTER!!!!!!
Okay, i’m going for a low score, 19–15, I think they will largely cancel each other out with a few moments of individual brilliance and a massively tense last 20. Honestly it could go either way, these teams are so close. I want Leinster to win it because the rule we had was that you support team team closest to home, but I see Toulouse pipping it. Tho the bench could be huge for Leinster, crazy hard to call.
Get that fifth star stitched on that shirt. Leinster, Leinster, Leinster. Lovely calm morning here in London, can’t wait for kick off.
We are Toulouse’s bogeyman – Leinster by 5
@J M: and la Rochelle were Leinster s till this season. So not a great hook to hang your hat on. Leinster but 12 or more. If it’s close Toulouse but I think Leinster will power through them
@Ciaran Kennedy: Difference is we brought on a world cup winner to help us adapt, Toulouse have not done the same and are still coasting through on their ‘moments of magic’ gameplan, which we have repeatedly shut down and will do so even more now that our defence is as aggressive as our attack
Forwards will dominate for Leinster but I’m concerned a little re enginuity among the backs. No Ringrose or Sexton to light the spark while all of them are too class, where’s the big line breaker??
How do you call this one!!, don’t think the last couple of meetings between the two mean anything. This is cup final time , both will be playing out their skin ..Leinster to edge with the bench in the last 20..(just)….
