DUNDALK FC HAVE contacted Twitter headquarters in an attempt to shut down an account which is impersonating Lilywhites boss Ian Foster.
So far only 22 tweets have been sent from the spoof account which opened on 22 May with the innocuous greeting: “Hi everyone, new to this, want to see what the fuss is all about!”

To give the account some credibility, the tweets sent out in Foster’s name initially focused on footballing matters, discussing Dundalk’s league results and the progress of the Airtricity League sides in Europe.
But suspicions were raised on Monday when the updates took on a more malicious tone, insulting members of Foster’s squad as well as league personalities such as Paul Cook and Paul Doolin.
After they were alerted, Dundalk contacted Twitter this morning in an attempt to have the account shut down. It was removed shortly after 12.30pm this afternoon.
“The Twitter account has not been set up by Ian Foster, as comments attributed to him will clearly show,” a club statement said.
The club and Ian are extremely disappointed by the actions of this person(s) and would encourage people not to ‘follow’ the account.
“The club have contacted Twitter and have this morning sent the relevant paperwork which we hope will see the account cancelled.”
Dundalk are back in action tomorrow night when they make the short trip to face local rivals Drogheda United in Hunky Dorys Park.
