HULL CITY ENSURED Liverpool’s miserable 2017 continued with a 2-0 victory over the Reds at the KCOM Stadium thanks to goals from Alfred N’Diaye and Oumar Niasse.
Liverpool dominated possession in the first half but failed to muster a single shot on target and were made to pay when Alfred N’Diaye opened the scoring just before the break.
The midfielder picked up a Harry Maguire header from a corner and tapped home from close range past Simon Mignolet who perhaps ought to have done better.
The Liverpool goalkeeper redeemed himself in the second half, saving well from Abel Hernandez after a quick Hull counter-attack could have seen the hosts double their lead.
Philippe Coutinho then missed an absolute sitter, from six yards, shanking the ball horribly wide before Daniel Sturridge was introduced as the Reds strove for an equaliser that did not come.
Instead Hull made the game safe late on through Niasse to give their survival hopes a boost while the visitors saw their faint titles hopes all but disappear.

Has Klopp lost the dressing room? Something is seriously wrong in that squad..
klopp was heard shouting at the linesman everyone can beat us
He was flying up and down the sideline so much I thought he was going to take off across the Humber.
In his opel insignia?
No his Mocha
But it’s still bright outside
It was one all not 2 nil ask the scared 1
Top was long gone but if they don’t sort it 4th could be removed too. Expensive run of games with more tough games to come. Spoofing gets you so far the players need to front up asap
is it still on Scott.
Yep fourth, it’s on!!
“top was long gone” stop it Scott wining the league was never realistic.
^^ obsessed ^^
But but Mane was back …..
Ha ha ha
Lol lol jet lagged lol
So a point wasn’t a bad result after.
Ah Chris you’re still alive
We have been shit since mid November every team has realised how to play against us, klopp has no plan b still and we keep conceding on the counter attack it’s a joke at this stage. Buy a left back and get can out of the team and Milner cm , Lucas cb is a joke also . 3 pts from 15 is shocking , time to change tactics or give up on 4th . This ain’t Germany klopp the lower teams are decent if you haven’t noticed !! Raging
Hull going well of late. Not a big shock given both sides recent performances.
“It’s totally astonishing that they have plumped for someone like this. It’s baffling. When there are a lot of people out there who know about the Premier League, about what’s required to dig in. He’s not got a clue.”
Phil Thompson (the Pool legend) on Marco Silva’s appointment.
ps David Moyes has a better win ratio at UTD than the German Basil Fawlty at Liverpool.
Funny old game isn’t it.
Very funny game , poor moyes never got a fair chance . Klopp record worse then moyes yet we still just about sit above Jose’s United. Gonna be a battle for 5th with Liverpool and United by the looks of things
True Ryan, although Liverpool were in double digits points wise ahead of Utd only about two months ago but nobody seems to want to take a top 4 spot with all teams dropping points the last few weeks. Arsenal losing again, Liverpool, Utd only drawing the other day.
If United win tomorrow the battle for 4th is between United, Arsenal and City in my opinion. Liverpool’s plan A has been found out lately and as said earlier Klopp doesn’t seem to have a plan b.
@casual.tri.guy:
Problem for UTD is the number of drawn games, 9 in total now, 6 of them at home, so won’t be totally surprised if there’s another one tomorrow…having said that Leicester are there for the taking so Jose has to get the starting line up right.
Attack, attack, attack must be the plan.
True.
Are you in cuckoo land ?
Attack Attack Attack is the Kevin Keegan school of management. You couldn’t get s manager further remove from attack attack attack than Jose
@Martin Fahy:
Fergie style as well.
Whatever about attack, they need pace. As much as I like Mata he’s not very effective against defences that sit back. They should start Martial for ability to get behind defences.
This is their year though.
Jesus United were lambasted for not beating one of the worst teams in the league during the week. Just saying….
Yes the most expensive team in the world with the highest wages in the world
Annoying gimp.
Ah rusty
Everton will catch them yet :)
Not buying anyone in January makes perfect sense when your playing two midfielders lb and cb
How Lucas gets a look in is unbelievable. Hasn’t been good enough for almost his entire ten years spent at Anfield
When will klopps job be under pressure. ? If doesn’t make top 4 ? He has had 3 transfer windows now and still hasn’t got rid of deadwood or bought well for problem areas .
Good aul Liverpool. No team can throw away a season quite like them.
There’s a couple of other I can think of.
That’s abit unfair on Arsenal..
Arsenal?
Upset my eye.
Where’s Marcus Bale? Back under his rock I presume? Ha ha ha ha
This from big nose who slagged bale for being all over all things Manchester United.
Where is Marcus lol
@Scorpionvenomm: yeah, funny that, how things work…. Was asking those same questions Wednesday night, and here everyone is…. All back….
You can be sure he’s in here hiding under a different name
Here you clown don’t hide like you do . Now throw the “your ma” comments out .
Like you midweek .
Here pansie where were you on Wednesday .
You ok Hun?
Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha Blahahahaha
Whoops.
In fairness, Liverpool had 22 shots on goal and 5 on target and had all the ball. Therein lies the issue. Origi is shite, Sturridge can’t stay fit or in the team and Firmino just shows up when it pleases him. Need a good finisher more than anything.
Top teams dropping points like they’re going out of fashion.
That’s just it Nollaig, there is really only one “top team”. Spurs and City will probably contest 2nd and 3rd position. As for the rest, Arsenal are having their annual February slump, Liverpool are on a bad run and United are too inconsistent. Everton might shock them all :-)
@Sloop John G: last few seasons, Southampton were in that mix, but they seem to have lost it too….
Indeed William but constantly selling their best players was bound to catch up with them eventually. Selling their skipper and one of their best defenders to West Ham mid season hasn’t helped.
Upset?
Not a bit Brian you get used to it after the guts of 30 years
Good auld German Rodgers doing it the ‘Liverpool way!’
@Johnny Bravo: you’ve managed to give Neenee/Alan/Marcus respectability. I commend you for that.
Liverpool are spent,they look exhausted
@William Kavanagh I apologise in advance for the crap that you will read on this comments section. Some of us United fans just enjoy a good game of football.
@Andrew Nolan: no worries :)
I am a klopp fan and can’t see the merit in changing manager. However, the team is not performing and are really struggling. When countinho was out he was the reason for us not winning, when mane went to the African cup that was the reason. So how strong is the squad. We look predictable and devoid of energy and a plan b. We had two centre midfielders playing in defence today. Can and Henderson does not work and to be honest the former is an awful disappointment. Our creative players are really not creating and overall we have an average strike force. How can it be fixed. Is this squad good enough to make the top 4 and how far out of its depth would it be in the champions league. Have we got the money to go out and buy better quality? I don’t have the answers but hopefully the club can address these issues soon. People say klopp has been at the club for a number of transfer windows and hasnt brought in the quality but unless you are given the money it is pretty difficult. Time to put Joe Gomes into the team and get him ready for the future. Put origi in for a sustained period and see how he performs. Big decisions need to be made on the futures of Lucas, sturridge, can, mignolet, Loren, klavan, etc.etc. I fear at best we can replicate Arsenal and be thereabouts for top 4 but not good enough to really challenge. Disappointing and hard to see a win soon.
First part of the headline is slightly harsh on Hull’s recent form, no?
@Dave Murray: true. And fait play to you, probably the only Man Utd fan around on Wednesday night…. Terrible for us Suffering Pool fans…..
In fairness William there is a few of us United fans on here who contribute to a good conversation and banter alike.
@William I was here bud. I’ll take as much as I give. If you can’t take it you shouldn’t comment like some
@Teddyzigzagbigbag: sorry bud, you are also one of the few proper Man Utd fans, I respect that…. Sad for most, that it is not your own team giving you joy, but the results of the other guys…..
@Nollaig Elliot: in fairness Nollaig, Teddy, you also know who my comment was really directed at…. Much the sae way Marcus and others have disappeared.
Overall guys, terrible day, combined with Irelands loss….
@William. And fair dues to you for taking it. No sign of Bale or those other mongo’s either. Tbh though, when United loose you have to admit you’re delighted too. It’s just the rivalry.
@Teddyzigzagbigbag: of course I am, like ya all today, but at least you show up for it. Look at the likes of Bravo, scorpion and all…. Heck where is Koeman still? The tide must have come in over his rock…. I have no problems taking it, and sticking up for my team…. Unfortunately, they are my team, always supported them, and its been tough of course, but I am not a fake plastic fan……
Will somebody please tell Klopp that Lucas is NOT and never was a centre back. He is a poor defensive midfielder who can’t tackle.
@raymond flynn: its bad when you consider him better than your actual defenders….
Totally agree William. Doesn’t say much for Joe Gomez
@raymond and tell Simon he’s not a keeper while he’s at it .
Fair play to Hull, giving some joy to Man Utd fans. Someday Man Utd will do that. Fully deserved, Pool toothless up front, still stuck with indecisive goalkeeping and defending. Cannot complain at all… Good day for bottom teams…. Poor Sunderland, get that big win, but cannot pull away….
Stop putting top 4 and title comments with Liverpool. Europa league should be their aim, have realistic goals. Why is it an upset Hull beat them? They are a soft team with no leaders; any well coached team with honest tough players would beat them
Time he was ran
What was the score
