BAYERN MUNICH BOSS Pep Guardiola got into a raging half-time row with AC Milan’s Nigel de Jong over his injury-inducing tackle on Joshua Kimmich in Tuesday’s clash at the Allianz Arena.
Although pre-season friendlies are notoriously tame affairs, De Jong was his usual tough-tackling self when, 10 minutes in, he clattered into the 20-year-old German midfielder.
Guardiola was forced to withdraw Kimmich midway through the first half due to the knock and the coach was still furious when the half-time whistle was blown in Munich.
The former Barcelona boss began ranting at De Jong inside the tunnel, gesturing wildly towards the defensive midfielder, who had to be restrained from charging towards Guardiola by his team-mates.
De Jong has a reputation of inflicting pain on his opponents, having infamously kicked Xabi Alonso in the chest in the 2010 World Cup final between Netherlands and Spain.
Aul Nigel isn’t really suited for friendlies.
Guardiola needs to get Keane in as his assistant. He would sort that out.
On a side note I just want to say that Bayern’s new signing Douglas Costa was amazing last night. Yet another Brazilian who was made in Shakhtar. The guy could easily surpass Robben & Ribery.
Agreed, and they just went and did the transfer, no BS, no on the minute Sky updates, the guy is quality and will strenghten them no end and for that price its robbery!!
He barely touched him FFS!
The pressure seems to be getting to Guardiola, though what pressure exactly is beyond me, they won everything in sight domestically so he should be in heaven with that. And he has a quality squad.
So he totally over reacted to that.
