WATCH: 'Go wide, go wide, yeeaahh!' - Mayo commentator let it all out at Croke Park yesterday

Michael D. McAndrew was in top form during the closing seconds of yesterday’s All-Ireland semi-final.

MICHAEL D. MCANDREW and former Mayo player Martin Carney were in the commentary box for Mid-West Radio at Croke Park yesterday.

And it’s not difficult to see where their allegiances lie as Bryan Sheehan stands over the late free that could have snatched victory for Kerry in a gripping All-Ireland semi-final.

McAndrew sums up the tension of an entire county as he describes the closing seconds of the game, puffing his cheeks out and barely able to watch as Sheehan goes through his pre-kick routine.

What follows is sheer relief from McAndrew, as Sheehan’s effort tails off-target before being plucked from the skies by Aidan O’Shea.

“Kerry, to win it, with Bryan Sheehan,” McAndrew gasps.

“Sheehan…yes, it’s going wide! Go wide, go wide! No, a Mayo man gets it, it’s still in play!

“Back there is Aidan O’Shea. It’s all over!”

And we’ll do it all over again next Saturday, with a 3pm throw-in for the replay at Croke Park:

On a completely seperate now, I seen 2 Mayo women in Croke park yesterday with a pack of ham and bread making ham sandwiches. I had 2 thoughts firstly, how they were left into croke park with the knife and secondly, surely it would have been more cost effective buying two sandwiches than wasting the rest of ham and bread. Funniest thing I seen all day#thisisireland2017

@Sam Walsh: I’m sure they would have given you a sandwich if you asked ;-)

I love this though. It is hilarious but fair play to them. That’s old school and I love they don’t feel embarrassed about it and have no notions.

Desperation from Mayo. They wasted a golden opportunity to be beat a Kerry team who had a terrible game. Kerry will be nowhere near as bad, and will finish them in the replay.
