REIGNING CORK SENIOR hurling champions Glen Rovers launched an incredible comeback as they came from 11 points down to defeat Sarsfields – the team they saw off in last year’s decider – in yesterday’s Round 2A replay at Páirc Uí Rinn.
Last week the teams could not be separated after extra-time and it took a stunning revival from Glen Rovers to claim a 3-17 to 4-12 victory this time.
Two goals from Michael Cussen helped Sarsfields into a 2-7 to 0-6 lead after 20 minutes before Cork senior Daniel Kearney bagged their third goal before half-time as they moved in front 3-8 to 0-7.
Glen Rovers did cut the gap to eight points at the break, 3-9 to 1-7, with Patrick Horgan netting from a free.
A Glenn Kennefick goal left them three points adrift, 3-12 to 2-12, with 12 minutes remaining, but Kearney’s second goal put Sarsfields in the driving seat with a 4-12 to 2-13 advantage in the 51st minute. But Glen Rovers hit 1-4 without reply in the finale with David Cunningham raising their green flag.
In the curtain-raiser to yesterday’s double-header in Páirc Uí Rinn, Erins Own defeated St Finbarr’s by 3-19 to 0-13 in their replay.
Two goals from Maurice O’Carroll put Erins Own into a 2-6 to 0-9 advantage at the break and they took over in the second-half with a third goal from Eoghan murphy sealing a comfortable win.

Bit harsh to call it a fumble, great defending from Giants No 31 pushing his elbow.
Any time an NFL player loses the ball it is called a fumble, even when it is punched out of their hands.
well spotted Andy
